Abstract:
The influences of billet design parameters and cap die on the forming load, folding and underfill of forging parts were analyzed by numerical simulation. The simulation results show that two initial billets are designed unreasonably, and the main reason causing inadequate filling is the small volume of billets. In order to avoid inadequate filling and keep extrusion pressure and clamping force as low as possible, the volume ratio of excess material and forgings should be controlled within the range from 0.04% to 0.35%, and the width of excess material groove is within 3-6 mm, which increases with the increase of volume. The transition fillet r=2 mm should be added between the excess material and forgings.
