Abstract:
The die forging technology of two stations in hot die forging press is adopted in the pin rail forging. Metal deformation is uniform and the filling is good. For a type 126 pin rail, its forging process in the hot forging press was designed theoretically, and the resistance ridge structure was used in the pre-forming die. The pin rail forming quality, forging load and die wear were simulated numerically. It is found that the resistance ridge structure used in the pre-forming die can significantly improve the ability of blank metal to fill the cavity and good quality forgings can be obtained. But it is prone to increase forming load significantly, and the optimization on the size of the resistance ridge needs to be further carried out to reduce load of the pre-forming die.
