Title:Springback simulation and compensation of molded forming for steel AP1000 containment vessel head petals

Abstract:
For steel AP1000 containment vessel with large dimension, medium thickness, tempered and quenched high strength elliptical head petals, the spring-back processes of molded forming under the different temperatures were simulated by finite element analysis software PAM-STAMP 2G. The iterative spring-back values of the die profile were compensated and corrected by the algorithm of smoothing geometry compensation, and the deviation of the actually formed petals was verified by the simulated result.  The result shows that the forming quality of the head petals can be significantly improved by warm forming, and its spring-back reaches the minimum value at 500 ℃. Therefore, molded forming is an effective method to obtain perfect petal forming accuracy by designing reasonable profile dimensions based on the compensation and correction of die profile.
