Abstract:

 The spline gear has both internal and external splines, which is different from the general toothed members. It was studied that the various precision forging processes for the spline gear with internal and external teeth. The precision forging process for forming the qualified internal and external teeth was carried out and the relevant forming mould was designed. The forming process was numerical simulated by Deform-3D software. Simulation results show that the internal and external spline gear forming is well, the equivalent stress and equivalent strain distribution are reasonable, and the total forming force is about 279 kN, which is very small. Combining the simulation results with process characteristics, it is analyzed that the internal teeth forming of this spline gear is more difficult than that of the external teeth. But the usage of the shunt diversion can not only make the internal teeth form well, but also reduce the total forming force significantly. Therefore, the experimental results further verify that the process and mould can greatly improve the filling effect of tooth end corner portion with difficult forming.
