Abstract:

 For the selection of the unidirectional or bidirectional anti-bending roll shape curves in the process of design for two-roll straightening machine, the straightening processes with two kinds of roll shape curves were numerically simulated by MSC.MARC software based on the sectional curvature-rotating anti-bending straightening theory. Then, through the comparison of simulation results about friction, stress, plastic strain and straightening force on the bar surface, the straightening mechanism, characteristics, and advantages and disadvantages of two roll shapes were elaborated in detail. In order to verify the simulation results, straightening precision, surface quality of the bar and straightening force of two roll shape curves were compared in small two-roll straightening machine, and the test data were verified by the finite element simulation results. Finally, the results of simulation and experiment were summarized, and the selection principle for roll shapes was put forward according to the function and cost of production.
