Title:Cold extrusion process for clutch outer gear hub

Abstract:

  For the technical difficulties in the internal spline forming, the structural characteristics of the clutch outer gear hub of a certain automobile were analyzed, and the cold extrusion process scheme was proposed. Then, the cold extrusion process of the clutch outer gear hub was numerically simulated by finite element software DEFORM-3D, and the influences of half-angle of input die, wall thickness of blank and friction coefficient on the forming load and forming quality were studied. The results show that the rounded corner of internal spline in the clutch outer gear hub is full filled and the forming load is relatively small with the half angle of input die of 45°, the wall thickness of blank  of 6.0 mm and the friction coefficient of 0.12. Furthermore, the experiment was conducted by the cold extrusion process of the clutch outer gear hub, and it proves the feasibility of the process scheme and the correctness of the numerical simulation results.
