Title:Research on DP490 dual phase steel application in door outer panel

Abstract:
The difference in material properties between DP490 dual phase steel and conventional steel used in outer cover parts was compared, and for the rear door outer panel of an automobile, its formability and dent resistance property which were the riskiest after the high strengthen thinning of door outer panel using DP490 dual phase steel were studied by simulation and experiments. The results show that the formability of the aimed parts using DP490 dual phase steel is good without cracking or wrinkling defects. Although the size deviation in some measurement positions exceeds the upper and lower limits, but it meets the requirement of edge bending. At the same time, the simulation and experiment results show that the dent resistance property of outer panel improves greatly, and the dent stiffness reduces, but the dent stiffness requirements is met. Thus, it is feasible to use the DP490 dual phase steel with the thickness of 0.65 mm to produce door outer panel, which is an alternative scheme for the vehicle selection material in the future.
